As in, early 20th century. No longer connected to power (probably thankfully)

    Have some of that in our house, that WAS connected to the power… o_O

    Ouch. Yeah, nob and tube wiring is a huge fire hazard. These days, if you buy a place with it in, connected or not, your insurance company would likely insist it be removed before insuring you.

    They would definitely want it removed if they knew it was there. In our case, whoever hooked it into the new wiring had gone to some effort to disquise the fact that it was still being used.
