  • Art Tatoo Show Montreal Poster Detail

    See: Art Tatoo Show Montreal

I love this artwork. Unfortunately, I had to resort to posting a cropped photo of their poster I took, because their site does not showcase the beautiful typographic work on the word Montreal coupled with the classic maiden artwork on a single pict, like the poster does.

  • This is SO Wrong

MPs in Kenya have voted to boost their own salaries, making them among the world’s best paid politicians.

Salaries could now go up to US $126,000 per year after tax, including US $370 a day for turning up in parliament. In a country where the average annual salary is US $730.

I have no connections to Kenya whatsoever, but this just makes me want to scream…

  • Copying Files between Amazon S3 Accounts

I was faced with the task of moving about 5GB worth of files from one Amazon S3 bucket to another, both under separate accounts. One of the main challenges, of course, was to not have to download the files to an intermediary location first to only then have to re-upload them to their final destination.

Solution: Bucket Explorer, which support copying (or moving) files between S3 accounts.

It did take 9.5 hours to copy 71,903 files (5.08GB) but it all went smoothly, with only two file copy failures.

I was able to do it all under their 30-days trial license, but I’m thinking I might just buy the product, even if I don’t need it again, as it truly helped me out this time around.

  • Back Alley Flowers

We’re lucky enough to have a back alley which is in fact a dead end, hence no traffic. We keep it clean so that our and the neighborhood’s kids can have a playground of sort. Those flowers are part of the communal effort to pretty it up.

  • Melting!

“This heat wave this week is quite significant,” said Environment Canada meteorologist André Cantin. “We’ll have almost five days in a row with very warm temperatures and [with the humidity, it will feel like] above 40 degrees, especially during the afternoon.”

These 40 degrees are in Celsius…

PUT THE NEEDLE ON THE RECORD‘ is an award-winning documentary which explores the evolution of electronic music and the rise of the DJ in pop culture. Filmed in Miami during the hot and sexy Winter Music Conference, a yearly week-long event attended by over 20,000 electronic music professionals and fans, the film takes an inside look at a growing global phenomenon in the world of music. Interviews with top artists, footage from events around the globe and a brilliant soundtrack are combined to create a highly energetic piece of filmmaking. First-time director Jason Rem brings an unexplored genre of music to the masses for a glimpse at a movement that is driven by passion, creativity and business. The film has been called ‘A rock solid documentary’, and ‘An event to savor in wonderment’ and is not to be missed.

I’m thinking Noël, Mateo and other DJ friends might like this one, though I’m betting they’ve already seen it.
